Game 2 of the World Series, but who cares— Minnesota Twins fans are less than six months away from outdoor baseball! This is a dream for any kid who grew up in the Dome. On our daily commute to Sprout headquarters, we get a good view of Target Field, which the MBA and the Twins have spent $2.5 million on in efforts to seek LEED certification (only awarded upon completion). They’ve been adding more bike racks and eco-friendly heating and ventilation systems, to name a few. Batter up!

With a dog and all the autumn slosh, my house needs a scouring practically every week (note: need is different than follow through), and my cleaner of choice has to be Mrs. Meyer’s. No, she’s not for hire—these Mpls. produced products are made from naturally derived ingredients and have delicious fragrances (I’m liking the spa-like lavender), and the packaging is pretty enough to display. Look how it shines in the Lunds aisle…

I am at the airport on my way out of town, and just stopping to say that in a sea of McDonald’s and other FF chains, the French Meadow Bakery outpost is so refreshing to see. Organic Valley milk and a whole grain wrap? Sounds like lunch to me.

My final craving: Made-from-scratch soup, a hearty sandwich, and a hot cup of joe from this corner cafe in St. Paul. As I left the tip, I was happy to learn that a portion would be donated to community projects. And this Saturday, I’ll be trotting back because I also found out the cafe is celebrating its 20 year anniversary with music, a wine tasting, and appetizers. If the phrases gluten-free and guilty pleasure sound like unlikely bedfellows than you’ve been barking up the wrong bakery. At this St. Paul shop, they stir in organic whole grains, free-range eggs, real maple syrup, and other pure delicious ingredients into every delectable cookie, cake, brownie, and crust that comes out of the kitchen. Clearly, the recovering lawyer turned clever baker behind this operation is one smart…
